Who We Are

The Michigan Staff Development council is an affiliate of the National Staff Development Council and supports and advocates for the beliefs of that organization. Board representatives from public and private education, Michigan Department of Education, educational associations, and educational consulting address concerns and needs relating to quality professional learning in all educational communities in Michigan.

MSDC members represent a wide range of formal and informal leaders in the school community. They volunteer with their feet and minds and time. They can be new to the profession as well as those who have extensive experience. They are clear about the need to design powerful learning communities in their schools and districts. They search for and use standards of quality to ensure quality experiences. The members also see that they have the skills and talents to bring people and funds and experiences together for sustainable improvement in student learning.

Membership is open to individuals interested in shaping the ever-changing landscape of education in Michigan.

Members receive information including early notification of professional development opportunities, email updates, and newsletters as well as special rates for programs and activities sponsored by MSDC.
